Corporate Counsel & Director – Legal and Risk Services

Location: Greenville, South Carolina, United States. Full-time office-based role with minimal travel to client offices, meetings, training, or events.

What you will do

• Advise business units on contracts, compliance, litigation, disputes, and legal and regulatory risk.
• Manage claims, disputes, litigation, administrative proceedings, subpoenas, summonses, and regulatory inquiries from intake through resolution.
• Draft, review, and revise engagement letters, confidentiality agreements, statements of work, vendor agreements, software agreements, releases, notices, and other legal documents.
• Coordinate document collection, legal holds, discovery, preservation obligations, response strategies, and external support.
• Support acquisition due diligence, contract review, risk mitigation, compliance, and post-closing integration.
• Manage outside counsel, consultants, and other professional advisors while providing practical guidance to business leaders.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in good standing in the state of employment; approved in-house counsel registration or another state-authorized exemption may also be considered where permitted.
• Approximately five or more years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house setting.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of civil litigation procedure, discovery, contracts, and indemnification principles.
• Ability to manage multiple matters, build relationships with business professionals, and balance legal risk with business objectives.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with document automation, e-discovery, or matter management tools is beneficial.
