Staff Engineer, Autonomy

What you will do

• Design and implement autonomous behaviours for uncrewed aircraft.
• Process real sensor data and build robust sensor fusion solutions.
• Develop and test autonomy systems through high-fidelity software and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
• Integrate autonomy products with third-party aircraft and systems.
• Contribute to architecture, code quality, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with AI, robotics, and systems engineering teams.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Aerospace, Robotics, or a related field.
• Significant professional experience in robotics, autonomy, perception, or aerospace systems.
• Strong experience with modern C++.
• Significant experience building and delivering reliable software systems, ideally in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to work on-site in Melbourne, Australia.

Nice to have

• Experience with uncrewed systems, especially airborne systems.
• Defence industry experience.
• Experience with state estimation, real-time systems, guidance, navigation and control, or path planning.
