Sr. Group Underwriter Stop Loss (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid schedule performed in proximity to Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States

Annual base salary: $78,990–$98,740 USD, plus potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Independently underwrite complex stop loss insurance applications, renewals, proposals, new cases, and amendments.
• Evaluate employee-group risk, aggregate reports, large claimant information, participation levels, industry characteristics, and prior claims experience to determine benefits and rates.
• Set appropriate pricing and funding methods while confirming that proposed benefit plans can be administered.
• Analyze client profitability, expenses, and product-line performance to support divisional profitability.
• Provide training, approval, and guidance to lower-level group underwriters and review cases exceeding their authority levels.
• Contribute underwriting expertise to product development, enhancements, and regional marketing rollouts while maintaining client and field relationships.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of underwriting experience.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
• PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
• Strong Excel skills preferred.
• Large-claims diagnosis and clinical knowledge preferred.
