Automotive Technician A Tech

Location: Appleton, United States; onsite automotive service work

Pay range: $22.90–$48.16 per hour, with a $2,000 sign-on bonus for first-time hires.

What you will do

• Diagnose and repair brake, hydraulic, exhaust, fuel, ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air-conditioning, and computer systems.
• Perform general automotive maintenance and tire repairs to specifications.
• Explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to non-technical customers.
• Assist with and train other technicians on technical activities.
• Complete paid formal training and obtain or maintain ASE certifications in at least five A1–A8 areas within the first two years.

Requirements

• Valid automobile driver's license and ability to drive customer and company vehicles.
• Demonstrated skill in brake, alignment, steering, suspension, automotive maintenance, and tire repair.
• Current federal, state, and local certifications or licenses where applicable.
• Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people, with reading, writing, and math skills.
• Five years of automotive repair experience, demonstrated skills through third-party assessments or certifications, or completion of a vocational-technical program.
• Temporary work authorization or the need for visa sponsorship may disqualify candidates; Form I-9 verification is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with electrical and electronic systems, engine repair and performance, automatic or manual transmissions, and automotive heating and air conditioning.
• ASE certification in at least three A1–A8 areas, preferably brakes and steering and suspension.
