Location: Conroe, Texas, United States. Full-time field role involving forested and remote locations, statewide emergency response, out-of-town travel, overtime, and 24-hour availability.
Salary: $20.45 per hour.

What you will do
- Support the District Forester with field operations, including tract and stand mapping, property and stand data collection, management plans, and special projects.
- Interact with clients and deliver conservation education to children and adults in outdoor classroom settings.
- Serve as a wildland firefighter and emergency responder on a statewide basis.
- Operate heavy firefighting equipment and hand tools, conduct ground reconnaissance, and respond to wildfire incidents.
- Manage assigned credit cards, vehicles, and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and servicing.
- Maintain 24-hour availability and respond to emergency dispatches within 30 minutes of notification.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- PC-based software knowledge and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Valid Texas CDL Class A or ability to obtain one within 180 days of hire.
- Ability to meet and maintain annual physical fitness standards, complete required NWCG training, and obtain Red Card Certification.
- Ability to work in hazardous outdoor conditions, operate heavy equipment, travel, work overtime, and perform physically demanding tasks.
Nice to have
- Two-year technical degree in natural resources or a related field.
- Experience in a similar position with a company or agency.
- GIS/GPS experience.
- FFT-1 or TLP-1 certification.
