Platform Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid, with 1–2 days per week at the Columbia, Maryland or San Antonio, Texas office. U.S. citizenship is required. Employees working from Columbia must travel to San Antonio approximately 3–4 days every three months.

Salary: $105,600–$190,450 USD annually

What you will do

• Develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex cloud and Big Data problems.
• Design and implement software architecture from prototypes through operational applications.
• Define, build, and manage cloud-based virtual infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes environments, container tooling, and automation platforms.
• Improve the robustness, optimization, and maintainability of existing code and systems.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex platform, network, host, and application issues independently.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• 5+ years of Platform Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with AWS, Python or Go, Linux systems, networking, security, and Shell/Bash scripting.
• Experience with OS deployment and orchestration tools such as Kickstart, Ansible, or Puppet.
• Experience deploying and managing Kubernetes, containers, and tools such as Docker, Podman, Helm, Kustomize, or Flux CD.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, oral, and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.
• Experience with OS and container hardening, STIGs, CIS benchmarks, or PCI compliance.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, virtualization, Agile development tools, or Big Data platforms such as Hadoop, Databricks, or Apache Spark.
• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications.
