Calibration Technician (Laboratory Instrumentation)

Location: San Jose, CA, USA; candidates must currently live within a commutable distance. This position is not remote and requires travel within the customer territory up to five days per week, with overnight travel as needed.

Salary: $24–$30 per hour, depending on Field Service Engineer level.

What you will do

• Perform calibration, qualification, and preventative maintenance on single-channel and multichannel pipettes.
• Travel to customer sites to complete pipette calibrations and preventative maintenance.
• Troubleshoot and repair small laboratory instruments in the field and laboratory.
• Manage parts inventory and communicate issues affecting service delivery and turnaround times.
• Complete service paperwork, reports, and documentation in accordance with good documentation practices.
• Schedule customer service efficiently, communicate with clients, and follow safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• Two- or four-year degree in a related science field, such as chemistry, analytical chemistry, electronic engineering, or biotechnology.
• 0–1 years of related experience for Field Service Engineer I or 1–3 years for Field Service Engineer II; field service experience is preferred.
• Must be able to work in the United States without immediate or potential future sponsorship.
• Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, clear communication, and a self-motivated, proactive approach.
• Ability to lift and transport equipment, work in laboratory environments, hold a valid driver's license, and maintain a clean driving record.
• Must be able to travel within the customer territory up to five days per week, Monday through Friday; overnight travel may be required.
