TL;DR
Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist (Healthcare Revenue Cycle): Resolving denied, delayed, and underpaid healthcare claims through payer follow-up, technical and clinical appeals, and root-cause analysis with an accent on reimbursement accuracy and regulatory compliance. Focus on mentoring AR specialists, identifying denial trends, solving complex claims, and supporting accounts receivable reduction and cash acceleration.

Location: Remote nationwide within the United States; candidates must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States. Travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations may be required based on business needs.

Salary: $18.65–$20.50 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

  • Follow up with commercial, governmental, and other payers on outstanding, denied, delayed, and underpaid claims.
  • File technical and clinical appeals, resolve payment variances, and secure timely and accurate reimbursement.
  • Analyze denial trends, payer policy changes, and payment delays to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Document claim activity and escalation details in client systems and tracking tools.
  • Mentor AR Specialist team members on follow-up, denials, complex claims, and appeals.
  • Support payer escalation calls, accounts receivable reduction initiatives, cash acceleration projects, and other special projects.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of relevant job experience.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong verbal communication, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and account-resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations, payer requirements, claims review, medical terminology, or insurance claim terminology.
  • CRCR certification upon hire or within 9 months of hire, or another approved job-relevant certification.

Nice to have

  • College degree and experience in medical collections, physician or hospital operations, AR follow-up, denials and appeals, compliance, provider relations, or professional billing.
  • Experience with the DDE Medicare system and payer websites.
  • Openness to innovation, including the use of AI to improve processes and patient and client experiences.
