Electrical Maintenance Technician (High Voltage)

What you will do

• Perform electrical testing, preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on distribution systems from 138kV to 480V motor control centers.
• Test and maintain protective relays, switchgear circuit breakers, transformers, switches, cables, grounding systems, station batteries, and chargers.
• Analyze test data, prepare technical reports, recommend corrective actions, and coordinate with reliability engineering, maintenance teams, and contractors.
• Create switching orders and plan and execute high-voltage and distribution-system switching and isolation.
• Troubleshoot 480V and 5kV motors, motor control circuits, and motor protection relay programming and interrogation.
• Support scopes of work, job safety analyses, contractor management, permits, lockout/tagout, QA/QC oversight, and small capital projects.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least five years of full-time practical high-voltage industry experience, including two or more recent years testing and performing preventive maintenance on high-voltage substations and electrical distribution systems; alternatively, a two-year associate degree in Electrical or Electronics Technology.
• Plant-level understanding of one-line diagrams, motor and breaker control schematics, P&IDs, instrumentation loop drawings, logic controller terminology, and applicable industry standards.
• Ability to work overtime, operate independently and in teams, communicate clearly, prioritize work, and coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines and contractors.
• Must be able to acquire a TWIC card.
• Knowledge of electrical safety procedures, NFPA 70E, LOTO, permits, and qualified-electrical-worker requirements.

Nice to have

• NETA Certified Technician certification.
• Experience with SAP or other electronic scheduling and database software.
