Software Engineer II

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States; normal office environment with up to 50% travel.

What you will do

• Develop standardized, configurable software solutions that support customer outcomes and digital transformation in manufacturing.
• Implement, redeploy, maintain, and improve software solutions for multiple customer applications.
• Gather requirements, contribute to scoping and quoting, and provide technical support for implemented solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams, external customers, and QA engineers while managing competing priorities and customer opportunities.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, documentation, and version control.
• Participate in Scrum or Kanban practices and provide technical guidance to junior team members when needed.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong software development portfolio.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or substantial equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript, with familiarity with Git and software development tools.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, communication, collaboration, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving, and sometimes ambiguous environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Valid driver’s license required; ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, talk, and hear during job duties.

Nice to have

• Experience with Plex, Fiix, FactoryTalk Optix, SCADA software, industrial or manufacturing operations, or SaaS delivery.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, databases, SQL, or machine control programming.
