Software Development Engineer - US Federal

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; may require onsite work at client locations in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. The flexible-work model requires at least 50% of each quarter in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: $137,000–$205,400 USD for the primary location. Additional U.S. locations: $123,900–$222,000 USD.

What you will do

• Collaborate with Product Managers and QA Engineers on functional design and requirements analysis.
• Design and develop products in a metadata-driven development environment.
• Build robust, efficient, and maintainable code using object-oriented frameworks and class modeling.
• Design and develop business applications with a focus on performance, usability, and configurability.
• Resolve customer-reported issues and contribute through pair programming, code reviews, and hackathons.
• Mentor and learn from other team members.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance at the TS/SCI with CI Poly level is required; an active clearance is preferred.
• At least four years of experience with UML, web application development, or SaaS technologies.
• At least four years of design and development experience with an object-oriented language such as Java, Python, C#, or C++.
• At least four years of experience designing and developing business applications.
• Strong collaboration and verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, including a current Computing Environment credential and an approved specialty certification.
• Experience designing and analyzing software for performance.
• Experience with JSON, REST, and GraphQL.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design patterns.
• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent work experience.
