TL;DR
Pool Operator Maintenance Work (Aquatic Facility Maintenance): Maintaining pool water quality, aquatic-centre equipment, building conditions, and public spaces with an accent on chemical water treatment, repairs, safety, and facility operations. Location: hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; onsite work

Salary: CAD 30.01–32.72 per hour

hirify.global is a university whose Athletics and Recreation department supports student and community recreation, aquatic facilities, varsity teams, and competitive clubs.

What you will do

  • Prepare, produce, and maintain pool water quality and building conditions.
  • Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, emergency response, equipment servicing, bulb and filter replacement, and facility conversions.
  • Maintain washrooms, change rooms, hallways, classrooms, offices, workspaces, and public areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Assess service calls, take corrective action, and coordinate requests with appropriate trades.
  • Operate and maintain facility equipment and tools, read blueprints and technical manuals, and manage supplies, inventory, and records.
  • Support maintenance, renovation, housekeeping, health, safety, and sustainability projects while providing service to pool users, clients, and partners.

Requirements

  • High school graduation and at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Pool Operator 1 and Pool Operator 2 certifications from BCRPA and/or RFABC.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia driver's licence required.
  • Knowledge of swimming-pool operation, repair, maintenance codes, safety precautions, chemical water treatment systems, and pool-water testing.
  • Ability to handle liquid chlorine, muriatic acid, soda ash, and similar chemicals using personal protective equipment.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, computer, written, and verbal communication skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; ability to work independently, in a team, and under pressure.

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working in an aquatics environment.
  • Experience operating hand tools, ladders, pumps, and related facility equipment.
