Precise Positioning Service Equipment Certification Subject Matter Expert (GPS)

Location: Remote, with the role based in El Segundo, California, USA; occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility may be required.

What you will do

• Support a government client in executing an assurance and authorization framework modeled after the FAA Technical Standard Order process.
• Evaluate, oversee, and advance certification activities for GPS Precise Positioning Service user equipment.
• Engage with government, industry, and applicant organizations to assess performance, assurance, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct software reviews against RTCA DO-178 and DO-254 requirements and evaluate airborne electronic hardware development processes.
• Identify emerging certification risks, assess their impacts, and develop appropriate solutions.
• Communicate certification findings and technical information to government clients and contractor teammates.

Requirements

• Experience performing certification authority activities under a military standard order program.
• Knowledge of Technical Standard Order authorization processes, FAA regulatory guidance, GPS PPS user equipment, and RTCA DO-229 MOPS.
• Ability to interpret FAA regulations, policy materials, and advisory circulars.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills with government clients and contractor teammates.

Nice to have

• Experience developing or evaluating aviation software.
• Experience with MSO-C145b and RTCA DO-229 certification activities and functional data review.
• Experience reviewing certification plans and change impact analyses.
• Experience preparing certification documentation, issue papers, and MSOA letters.
• Master’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
