Operations Data Engineer (Medtech)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines connecting MES, ERP, SCADA, LabVIEW, IoT, and other operational systems.
• Own the Operations data warehouse, including data models, schemas, performance, reliability, and availability.
• Build scalable ETL/ELT processes and time-series data capabilities for manufacturing and test systems.
• Use SQL, Python, and related tools for transformation, validation, monitoring, automation, and documentation.
• Curate trusted datasets for dashboards, reporting, analytics, and business intelligence.
• Support data governance, lineage, metadata, access control, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, engineering, data engineering, data analytics, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting production data solutions in manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or similarly complex operational environments.
• Proficiency with SQL Server, relational database design, data modeling, stored procedures, query optimization, and schema development.
• Experience developing ETL/ELT solutions and data pipelines, plus proficiency with Python or a similar scripting language.
• Understanding of data governance, metadata, lineage, cybersecurity, documentation, statistical analysis, and machine learning concepts.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and translate technical concepts into business solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Data Factory, data warehouses, dimensional modeling, data marts, or semantic layers.
• Experience with manufacturing, test, traceability, or time-series data and systems such as MES, ERP, SCADA, LabVIEW, IoT, Kepware, OPC-UA, historians, or streaming platforms.
• Familiarity with SSRS, Power BI, Grafana, Tableau, Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile/Scrum.
• Experience in FDA-regulated, medical-device, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
