TL;DR
System Engineer 2 (Data Engineering): Designing and implementing data engineering and systems engineering solutions for federal government data repositories with an accent on data flows, system requirements, architectures, and integration. Focus on modeling transformations across concurrent data sets, defining interfaces, conducting system trade analyses, and delivering secure, scalable systems.
Location: On-site in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, United States. United States citizenship and an active TS/SCI clearance with agency-appropriate polygraph are required.
Salary: $45.61–$119.86 per hour

What you will do
- Outline, develop, and implement data engineering solutions using data flows, ontologies, schemas, and structured data formats.
- Map and model data transformation routines for ingestion into corporate repositories.
- Analyze requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level architectures to develop system requirements and design specifications.
- Lead systems engineering design, development, integration, implementation planning, and technical documentation.
- Define software interfaces and conduct system trade analyses across performance, cost, risk, scalability, and lifecycle considerations.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders, program personnel, senior executives, and technical teams.
Requirements
- Fourteen years of systems engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, computer science, information systems, engineering, engineering management, or a related discipline; five additional years of systems engineering experience may substitute for the degree.
- TS/SCI clearance with an agency-appropriate polygraph.
- Demonstrated systems engineering experience, including SOA solutions, system lifecycle planning, configuration control, and interface definition.
- Working knowledge of Apache NiFi, Linux, data ontologies, XML, CSV, JSON, databases, and analytic query platforms.
- Experience with MySQL or NoSQL databases; Java and Splunk experience is highly desired.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of smart data systems and entitlements.
- Experience with agency dataflow and reporting solutions.
- Experience with clustered or cloud storage, COTS and GOTS integration, agile development, and secure compliant solutions.
