Location: Remote, but must currently reside in Texas, United States

Texas Oncology is a large community oncology provider delivering evidence-based cancer care across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma as part of hirify.global.

What you will do

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines for large-scale data ingestion and transformation from EMRs, laboratory interfaces, and data warehouses.
  • Build and implement data architecture supporting precision medicine and informatics decision-making.
  • Write SQL for data science initiatives and optimize workflows for performance, accuracy, and integration.
  • Integrate OpenAI tools and large language models into data platforms in collaboration with AI teams.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting, and maintain cloud infrastructure and related services.
  • Document architectures and procedures while applying best practices in cloud engineering, SQL, ETL, and AI integration.

Requirements

  • Current residence in Texas is required.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of professional data engineering experience focused on ETL, including at least 3 years in healthcare data engineering.
  • Experience with oncology workflows, clinical data, molecular or genomic data, laboratory and pathology data, and healthcare standards including HL7, FHIR, ICD-10, LOINC, and SNOMED.
  • Strong experience with SQL and scripting or automation, such as Python.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, and with OpenAI tools and LLM integration.

Nice to have

  • Direct oncology data engineering experience.
  • Experience with GitHub, Confluence, and Jira.
  • Experience with EHR systems such as IKMg1/IKMg2, Epic, or Copia.
