Salary: $21.75–$29.92 per hour, depending on locality

What you will do

  • Handle, classify, segregate, label, package, consolidate, and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Separate chemicals by compatibility and DOT hazard class and determine safe packing or consolidation methods.
  • Prepare shipping documents and coordinate transportation of chemical products and hazardous waste.
  • Approve outbound packing slips and create inventories, QA/QC records, and waste tracking documentation.
  • Follow treatment, storage, and disposal facility protocols and collaborate with facility technicians.
  • Mentor entry-level chemists on standard operating procedures and provide initial training.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to complete 40-hour HAZWOPER training after hire.
  • Ability to wear and safely use all required personal protective equipment, including air-purifying respirators.
  • Accuracy, thoroughness, attention to detail, prioritization, and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol testing, and background screening.
  • Knowledge of DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations and experience with hazardous waste classification, lab pack segregation, or waste handling are preferred.
