Operations Excellence Engineering & Maintenance Manager (Manufacturing)

Location: Reed City, Michigan, United States. The role works in both office and manufacturing environments, with frequent manufacturing exposure and up to 10% overnight travel.

What you will do

• Lead deployment and sustainment of the Apogee Management System across manufacturing operations.
• Drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, productivity, throughput, scrap reduction, cost, and equipment uptime.
• Oversee maintenance supervision, plant engineering, operational excellence engineers, preventive and predictive maintenance, CMMS use, and spare-parts management.
• Manage facility and equipment capital projects, budgets, repairs, utilities, vendors, contractors, and equipment moves.
• Provide technical ownership of extrusion processes and lead improvements in process capability, yield, scrap, and throughput.
• Coach supervisors, engineers, and operators while developing technical training and maintenance apprenticeships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with demonstrated operational impact.
• Experience deploying and sustaining continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, A3, PDCA, DMAIC, standard work, and structured problem solving.
• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, analytical ability, communication, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs and work in office, manufacturing, and potentially confined-space environments.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Total Productive Maintenance, hydraulics, electronics, and PLC programming.
