Underwriting Assistant Intern - Healthcare

What you will do

• Process incoming insurance submissions, review received information, and enter data into underwriting systems for rating and quoting.
• Support underwriters with new and renewal business by reviewing applications, supplements, loss runs, and other underwriting information.
• Process requests to bind, deliver binder confirmations and invoices to agents, and resolve discrepancies before updating account status.
• Prepare policy output, process non-critical service requests, and ensure documentation reflects approved risk details and state requirements.
• Monitor underwriter workflows during travel or absences and participate in departmental projects.
• Perform underwriting and policy audit reviews, summarize results, and recommend corrective actions when needed.

Requirements

• Current college student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• Knowledge of insurance terminology.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship or transfer of sponsorship is not available.
