Actuarial - Commercial Lines, Personal Lines, and Loss Reserving Summer Internships (Insurance)

Location: Hybrid role based at the corporate office in Short Hills, New Jersey, United States

Salary: USD $22.00–$25.00 per hour

What you will do

• Perform pricing and insurance experience analyses.
• Prepare data and templates for quarterly loss and loss adjustment expense reserve analyses.
• Develop special reports, data compilations, and analyses of company and industry experience.
• Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from the Actuarial Department.
• Suggest and implement process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
• Work directly with experienced actuaries and learn how actuarial functions support other business areas.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an applicable degree or have relevant classroom experience, preferably in Actuarial Science, STEM, or another analytical field.
• Full-time undergraduate junior or senior standing is preferred.
• High school diploma required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to participate in an 11-week, full-time hybrid internship based at the Short Hills, New Jersey office.

Nice to have

• Experience with SQL, Access, R, Python, or statistical modeling packages.
• Eligibility to earn college credit according to institutional requirements.
