Senior PHP Engineer (Traveltech)

Location: Remote, anywhere in Spain; candidates must reside in Spain and be fully eligible to work there.

Salary: €79,200–€114,000 per year for Spain.

What you will do

• Lead the design of high-performance distributed systems handling global traffic.
• Develop services and drive the transition toward service-oriented architecture for greater scalability, modularity, and resilience.
• Establish code quality standards using SOLID principles, design patterns, automated testing, and clean-code practices.
• Identify service bottlenecks and implement advanced caching, database, and performance strategies.
• Coach mid-level engineers through code reviews and technical knowledge sharing.
• Partner with Product and DevOps to translate complex requirements into scalable technical roadmaps.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional backend development experience with deep PHP expertise.
• 4+ years building enterprise applications with Laravel or equivalent senior Symfony experience.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and messaging patterns such as SQS or Pub/Sub.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, performance tuning, transactions at scale, AWS, Docker, and CI/CD.
• Ability to use, validate, and iterate with AI tools during technical work.
• Fluent English is required, and candidates must be eligible to work in Spain.

Nice to have

• Experience with SaaS/PaaS, SOA, or microservices architecture.
• Experience with eSIM, GSMA technologies, or Traveltech solutions.
• Experience building or maintaining custom SDKs.
