Police Officer II

Location: Kingsville, Texas, United States; onsite campus position with work beyond normal office hours and/or weekends.

What you will do

• Patrol University property by vehicle, golf cart, Trikke, or on foot.
• Enforce Texas criminal laws, Transportation Code violations, and University rules and regulations.
• Prevent crime, suppress disturbances, issue citations, and take appropriate enforcement action.
• Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, prepare reports, and conduct preliminary investigations.
• Guard and transport prisoners, assist other law enforcement agencies, and testify in courts and student judicial hearings.
• Interact professionally with students, faculty, staff, the public, and external agencies while maintaining departmental vehicles and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least one year of experience as a licensed Police Officer.
• Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) basic certification required.
• State of Texas Class C vehicle operator’s license required, or ability to obtain it within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to communicate effectively, multitask, cooperate with others, and function under adverse and stressful conditions.
• Successful completion of a psychological evaluation, physical examination, and background investigation, including driving, criminal, and credit history checks.

Nice to have

• Three years of related patrol field operations experience.
• Experience with report writing.
