Program Specialist I (Community Health)

Location: McAllen, Texas, United States. Requires substantial travel within the Lower Rio Grande Valley, occasional travel outside the region, and work during evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary: $3,750 per month minimum.

What you will do

• Support the planning, implementation, coordination, and monitoring of the Together for a Better Tomorrow program.
• Maintain program files, databases, correspondence, budgets, reports, and other program materials.
• Help plan specialized meetings, workshops, training sessions, and program communications.
• Coordinate with program participants and ensure administrative processes are completed correctly.
• Serve as a first point of contact for program information through email and social media.
• Attend meetings and conferences and support evaluation of program success and impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• DSHS certification, CHW or CHWI certification, Promotora Certification of Training, or the ability to complete Promotora Certification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, database applications, and computer troubleshooting.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service, multitasking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work with sensitive information, maintain confidentiality, and travel independently.

Nice to have

• Experience developing, planning, implementing, or evaluating curriculum.
• Experience assisting with or leading training efforts.
• Public relations, marketing, data collection, or data management experience.
• Two years of experience working with Spanish-speaking community members and stakeholders.
• Experience with community-based participatory research and design platforms such as Canva or Photoshop.
