Research Assistant - Wang Lab (Neuroscience)

What you will do

• Assist with the design, planning, coordination, and execution of neuroscience research experiments.
• Conduct rodent behavioral experiments related to substance use disorders and Alzheimer’s disease, including operant self-administration, extinction, reinstatement, novel object recognition, and Barnes maze assays.
• Support stereotaxic procedures, viral-vector or tracer delivery, and in vivo neural recording or manipulation under approved protocols.
• Perform tissue collection, brain sectioning, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, and experimental targeting verification.
• Organize, analyze, graph, and document behavioral, imaging, electrophysiological, and other neuroscience data.
• Support research proposals, reports, invoices, financial records, equipment operation, and mentorship of students and laboratory staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with mice or rats in behavioral neuroscience research is preferred.
• Experience with operant behavior, stereotaxic surgery, viral-vector delivery, histology, microscopy, electrophysiology, or in vivo neural imaging is preferred.
• Experience with quantitative data analysis and scientific software such as GraphPad Prism, MATLAB, Python, or R is preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, scientific writing, and collaboration skills.
• The position is grant funded, and continued employment may depend on future funding.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, biomedical sciences, or a related field.
• Co-authored peer-reviewed publications, preprints, or conference presentations.
