What you will do

• Lead and coordinate laboratory activities, including scheduling, supplies, safety, compliance, certification, and quality assurance.
• Conduct AI and machine learning research using large-scale biological, genomic, metabolomic, and phenotypic datasets.
• Investigate genetic, biochemical, and environmental factors affecting bioactive compounds and volatiles in fruits and vegetables.
• Develop AI-enabled decision support tools for breeding climate-resilient, high-quality horticultural crops.
• Collaborate with transdisciplinary scientists, research teams, industry partners, and experts; conduct field trials and collect samples across Texas as needed.
• Train students and visiting scientists, contribute to grants and manuscripts, and disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in a related field.
• Experience applying AI and machine learning to biological, genomic, metabolomic, and phenotypic datasets.
• Knowledge of genomic selection, genomic prediction, GWAS, quantitative genetics, statistical learning, and crop improvement.
• Experience integrating multi-omics datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, phenomics, and microbiome data.
• Proficiency in Python, R, AI/ML frameworks, and bioinformatics pipelines.
• Ability to obtain a valid US driver's license.
