TL;DR
Systems Engineer IV – Space Vehicle Systems Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and developing complex spacecraft and payload systems across requirements derivation, verification, integration, testing, and launch with an accent on end-to-end systems engineering, requirements traceability, and payload-to-bus interfaces. Focus on leading subsystem development, coordinating SRR/PDR/CDR design reviews, and validating high-reliability space products.

Location: Louisville, Colorado; must be local to the work location. Flexible for occasional telework.

Salary: $102,516.20–$178,255.78 projected compensation range.

What you will do

  • Perform systems engineering across the full product lifecycle, from customer requirements derivation through design, verification and validation, assembly, integration and testing, and launch.
  • Derive, manage, and trace requirements for complex spacecraft, payloads, subsystems, and components.
  • Design and evaluate end-to-end system architectures and translate product strategies into system and implementation requirements.
  • Lead a dedicated mechanical, electrical, or software subsystem and manage payload-to-bus interface control documentation.
  • Review component designs, test plans, and procedures to verify compliance with contractual and system requirements.
  • Organize and lead customer-facing SRR, PDR, and CDR milestone design reviews and participate in risk and configuration control boards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering field with 8–10 years of systems engineering experience; equivalent requirements include an MS with 6–8 years or a PhD with 0–2 years.
  • Professional experience in systems engineering for high-reliability space and aerospace applications.
  • Extensive experience with systems engineering development methods for complex product architectures.
  • Experience supporting programs through all development phases, from requirements derivation and development to sustainment.
  • Experience with aerospace requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or similar.
  • Must be local to the Louisville, Colorado work location.

Nice to have

  • Experience developing and implementing architectures for national defense, NASA civil space, and commercial aerospace customers.
