Software Architect - Data Platform

What you will do

• Set and evolve the architectural direction for the Data Platform group across data infrastructure, data engines, and data frameworks.
• Lead cross-team design reviews and drive alignment on significant technical decisions and trade-offs.
• Create design documents, reference architectures, standards, and reusable patterns.
• Partner with engineers and team leads through delivery and production to preserve architectural intent and resolve emerging trade-offs.
• Guide data access, query and application frameworks, streaming, storage, reliability, scalability, and security capabilities.
• Drive incremental modernization, enable permission-aware access to sensitive HR data, and prepare the platform for trusted analytics and AI use cases.

Requirements

• Extensive experience as a Software Architect, Principal Engineer, or Staff Engineer working with data-intensive, distributed applications.
• Deep expertise in distributed-systems trade-offs involving consistency, reliability, performance, scalability, and operability.
• Hands-on experience designing application-facing data platforms, APIs, frameworks, or query and data-access layers.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, cloud infrastructure, and complex data systems.
• Experience modernizing production systems through migrations, decomposition, or architectural improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for architecture reviews, technical decision records, and cross-team alignment.

Nice to have

• Experience with sensitive data, security, privacy, permissions, or multi-tenant systems.
• Experience enabling analytics, semantic data access, or AI-ready data platforms.
