IBM MQ Administrator / Support Engineer (IBM MQ)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal; hybrid work model. Candidates must already have the legal right to work in the European Union.

What you will do

• Manage and support IBM MQ in critical production environments, maintaining high availability and performance.
• Troubleshoot queue manager issues, channels, alerts, and production incidents.
• Execute firmware upgrades, platform maintenance, and data center migrations.
• Deploy and configure AMS and MQIPT, including mq.ini operational handling.
• Support HADR strategies, failover readiness, and disaster recovery practices.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, network, and application teams to maintain service continuity.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in middleware operations, messaging platform support, or production support.
• Hands-on experience with IBM MQ, particularly in high-availability environments.
• Knowledge of MQ Appliance, queue manager administration, and failover strategies.
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix basics, network connectivity, certificates, and log analysis.
• Experience with incident management, operational standards, and infrastructure lifecycle activities.
• Fluent English and an existing legal right to work in the European Union are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of MQ architecture, AMS configuration, and operational governance.
• Experience with incident and change management in financial environments.
• Proficiency in French.
