Intern (m/f/d): Re-entry Simulation Capabilities (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Learn the existing DSMC simulation workflow and the TITAN framework.
• Investigate CFD-DSMC coupling strategies for multi-regime atmospheric re-entry problems.
• Implement interfaces between CFD solutions and DSMC simulations.
• Integrate TITAN into the existing re-entry simulation chain.
• Apply the methodology to representative spacecraft re-entry scenarios.
• Perform verification and validation studies and document the workflow and analysis procedures.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in aerospace technology, physics, electrical engineering, computer science, business administration, or a comparable program.
• Previous experience or academic background in CFD, DSMC, aerothermodynamics, or atmospheric re-entry modelling.
• Programming experience in Python and/or C++.
• Knowledge of numerical methods and high-speed flow physics is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, independent-working, and communication skills.
• High proficiency in English, spoken and written, is required; minimum internship duration is 5 months.

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenFOAM, SPARTA, or similar simulation tools.
• Previous internship or other relevant work experience.
