Intern (m/f/d): Electric Propulsion Plasma Modelling

What you will do

• Learn the openPIC Particle-In-Cell simulation framework and relevant simulation methodologies.
• Investigate physical models for electric propulsion plasma plume interactions.
• Extend openPIC to support multiple interacting electric thruster sources.
• Implement and verify plasma, electromagnetic, and spacecraft-plasma coupling models.
• Apply the developed methodology to representative spacecraft electric propulsion architectures.
• Perform verification and validation while improving software performance and documentation.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in aerospace technology, physics, electrical engineering, computer science, business administration, or a comparable degree program.
• Strong interest in electric propulsion and plasma modelling.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and independent-working skills.
• High proficiency in English, spoken and written, as the working language.
• Minimum internship duration of 5 months.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Particle-In-Cell methods and numerical simulation techniques.
• Experience with Python, C++, or parallel computing.
