TL;DR
VDI Administrator (VMware): Supporting and maintaining an enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure at Wright-Patt AFB using VMware vSphere/ESXi, Omnissa Horizon, 10ZiG clients, Azure, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 with an accent on troubleshooting, desktop administration, and infrastructure sustainment. Focus on maintaining desktop pools and virtual machines, resolving user connectivity and application issues, managing images and entitlements, and escalating complex performance or system problems.
Location: Wright-Patt AFB, OH - NASIC; onsite role

What you will do
- Monitor and maintain VDI infrastructure, desktop pools, virtual machines, and endpoint devices.
- Troubleshoot user connectivity, login, desktop, application, peripheral, and access issues.
- Perform routine VM, Horizon, Windows, endpoint, account, group membership, permission, and entitlement administration.
- Assist with desktop image updates, software deployments, patching, configuration changes, upgrades, and testing.
- Investigate alerts and performance issues, escalating complex problems to senior engineers.
- Maintain technical documentation and support records, and participate in disaster-recovery exercises.
Requirements
- Top Secret security clearance required.
- CompTIA Security+ certification and at least one year of experience in IT systems administration, desktop support, virtualization, or infrastructure operations.
- Working knowledge of VMware vSphere/ESXi, virtual machines, Windows 10/11, and Windows Server.
- Basic knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience troubleshooting desktop, network, application, and user-access issues, with familiarity with PowerShell or Windows command-line tools.
- Ability to document work, follow procedures, escalate issues appropriately, and provide strong customer service.
Nice to have
- Experience with Omnissa/VMware Horizon, Horizon Client, Horizon Agent, virtual desktop pools, or 10ZiG thin and zero clients.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, VMware vCenter, Horizon Connection Servers, UAG, App Volumes, or Dynamic Environment Manager.
- Knowledge of virtual networking, VLANs, firewalls, load balancing, monitoring, ticketing, patching, backup, and configuration management.
- PowerShell scripting or automation experience and relevant VMware, Microsoft, Azure, or CompTIA certifications.
