TL;DR
SME Systems Administrator (Enterprise Infrastructure and Security): Administering enterprise networks, servers, virtual environments, storage platforms, and security configurations for DHS mission systems with an accent on Active Directory, virtualization, network resiliency, and COOP/DR readiness. Focus on deploying failover capabilities, automating administration with PowerShell or Bash, remediating vulnerabilities, and supporting high-availability mission operations.

What you will do

  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, servers, SANs, network devices, and workstation environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, including domain controllers, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, event logs, and PowerShell or Bash automation.
  • Deploy and maintain continuity of operations and disaster recovery capabilities, including redundancy, failover, lab validation, and COOP simulations.
  • Administer VMware ESXi/vCenter, Nutanix clusters, and NetApp SAN/NAS platforms.
  • Patch systems, maintain DHS and FISMA security baseline compliance, remediate vulnerabilities, and support ATO activities with the ISSO.
  • Support Palo Alto firewall deployment and Cisco/Dell networking, including rule migration, VPN tunnels, segmentation, and high-availability initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or a related field, or five or more years of equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of enterprise IT systems or network administration experience.
  • Proficiency with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO management, PowerShell or Bash, VMware, Nutanix, NetApp, Windows Server, and Linux.
  • Experience with patching, security remediation, ATO processes, ISSO coordination, Cisco/Dell devices, and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 80 lbs.; server-room work involves standing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Nice to have

  • Federal law enforcement IT or DHS operations experience.
  • Experience designing or deploying COOP/DR sites and supporting high-availability, 24/7 mission operations.
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto firewall migration, static routing, VPN tunnels, multi-site resiliency, lab testing, and replication validation.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes or containerized applications.
  • MCSA, MCSE with Security, CompTIA Security+, or PMP certification.
