Communications Specialist (AI)

Location: hirify.global Vancouver Campus, Vancouver, BC, Canada; onsite role

Salary: CAD 6,143.67–8,830.25 per month

What you will do

• Develop and execute strategic communications and knowledge mobilization plans, including editorial calendars, for the Centre for Migration Studies and the Bridging Divides research program.
• Translate complex migration research into plain-language summaries, research stories, policy explainers, reports, presentations, newsletters, web content, and social media materials.
• Manage WordPress webpages, newsletters, social media channels, analytics, digital content, and issue management.
• Coordinate media outreach, promotional campaigns, RSVP pages, and communications for talks, panels, workshops, conferences, screenings, and other events.
• Collaborate with researchers, faculty, students, community partners, media contacts, and communications units while providing communications advice and editorial guidance.
• Supervise or coordinate administrative and student staff, manage affiliate and partner databases, and oversee privacy and consent requirements.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and at least four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, presentation, organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
• Experience communicating academic or scientific research to non-specialist audiences through plain-language, policy, or knowledge mobilization products.
• Competence with WordPress and MailChimp, social media platforms, data analytics, and search engine optimization.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercise initiative and discretion, and manage deadlines and complex partnerships.

Nice to have

• Education or experience in digital media, marketing, communications, journalism, English, research, or public policy.
• Experience with AI tools for communications, Adobe Creative Suite, graphic design, photo or video editing, HTML, podcast production, or short-form video.
• Familiarity with institutional social media communications, web standards, accessibility, and digital communications best practices.
