HVAC Controls Project Engineer

Location: Hybrid schedule with onsite work Monday through Thursday and flexible location on Fridays; preferred locations are Charlotte, NC, Greenville, SC, North Charleston, SC, or West Columbia, SC.

Salary: $65,200–$93,660 annually

What you will do

• Design hardware and software solutions for building automation systems using direct digital controls.
• Review contracts, mechanical plans, specifications, estimates, equipment submittals, and job surveys for integration into automation designs.
• Create installation, submittal, and as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and field transition documentation.
• Develop advanced sequences of operation and cost-effective control solutions for project requirements.
• Support BAS technicians with wiring, programming, electrical terminations, commissioning, graphics development, testing, and startup.
• Investigate customer concerns, implement corrective actions, and guide other engineers while supporting project managers.

Requirements

• Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, construction, engineering technology, or a related field, or 3+ years of relevant HVAC or adjacent-industry project management or estimating experience.
• Experience with a drafting or design program.
• Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure, network architecture, and industry-standard integration protocols.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and advise or guide other engineers.
• Ability to work onsite Monday through Thursday at an approved North Carolina or South Carolina location.

Nice to have

• Experience with new construction, renovation and retrofit, performance contracting, or service project management.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems, building automation systems, and temperature controls.
• Knowledge of Trane Controls products and applicable third-party devices.
