Specialist, Accounting

Location: Columbus, Ohio, with hybrid work requiring on-site presence at least two days per week

Salary: $79,500–$148,500 national range; expected starting range of $79,500–$119,500 annually

What you will do

• Resolve material, high-risk, high-volume, and aged balance-sheet reconciliation exceptions.
• Research discrepancies through the general ledger and other source systems and collaborate with reconcilers, reviewers, exception owners, and business-unit controllership.
• Prepare and analyze complex financial, regulatory, statutory, state, and supplemental reports.
• Develop and submit complex accounting and financial transactions while ensuring the accuracy and completeness of reports and data.
• Lead reconciliation quality-assurance testing and build and maintain Power BI reporting.
• Present status updates, recommend management actions, and support auditors, regulators, and other internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Four to six years of related accounting experience; insurance experience is preferred.
• Undergraduate studies in accounting, finance, or business administration; an accounting degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP and/or STAT requirements, complex financial statement preparation, consolidations, taxation, and regulatory reporting.
• Ability to analyze and solve complex accounting problems, interpret financial documents and legal requirements, and communicate findings clearly.
• Project management skills and advanced proficiency with computers and accounting or business systems.
• This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization, and hirify.global does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.

Nice to have

• Progress toward CPA certification.
• Familiarity with or interest in Power BI and other technologies.
• Insurance industry experience.
