AI Counsel (AI)

Location: United States; preference for on-site work in Washington, DC. Remote work from home is also eligible, and qualified candidates in other US locations will be considered.

Salary: $200,000–$230,000 per year, plus bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Serve as the lead legal advisor on artificial intelligence regulations, privacy, healthcare, technology, and intellectual property matters.
• Partner with product, engineering, data science, and privacy teams to embed legal, privacy, and compliance requirements into AI systems.
• Lead privacy and data governance support, including privacy-by-design, data sharing, cross-border transfers, DPIAs, Records of Processing Activities, secondary use, and automated decision-making.
• Support AI-related contracting and vendor management for AI platforms, SaaS solutions, data licensing, and data-sharing agreements.
• Develop standard contract templates and assess third-party AI risks and compliance obligations.
• Support hirify.global's AI Governance program through risk assessments, executive reviews, approval processes, and responsible AI adoption.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor, LLB, or equivalent legal degree.
• Minimum of 8 years of legal experience.
• Licensed member of the bar in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience with technology contracting, legal and regulatory compliance, and direct collaboration with technical teams.
• Substantial familiarity with AI and privacy laws, risk management, and governance.
• Strong drafting skills and the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.

Nice to have

• IAPP AI and privacy certification, or equivalent certification in progress.
• Experience advising on AI and privacy matters.
