What you will do
- Lead and continuously improve the enterprise Energetics Safety Program, including policies, standards, procedures, specifications, and training.
- Develop risk-management processes for energetic materials and operations, including PHAs, HAZOPs, FMEAs, What-If analyses, QRAs, and Quantity-Distance evaluations.
- Support facility siting, hazard classification, blast and fragmentation assessments, consequence analysis, and operational readiness activities.
- Integrate energetics safety across engineering, manufacturing, ground testing, flight testing, storage, transportation, and disposal operations.
- Participate in design, production readiness, operational readiness, and ground and flight test reviews, providing independent risk-based recommendations.
- Lead regulatory compliance, investigations, corrective actions, training, and continuous improvement across energetics operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, occupational safety, chemistry, physics, or a related technical discipline.
- At least eight years of progressively responsible experience supporting energetic materials or explosives operations in aerospace, defense, military, manufacturing, or another high-hazard industry.
- Experience developing or implementing energetics safety programs, technical standards, procedures, and operational requirements.
- Experience leading hazard analyses and risk assessments using qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
- Working knowledge of DoD explosives safety requirements, DoD 4145, ATF, OSHA, DOT hazardous materials regulations, and NFPA standards.
- Access to export-controlled information may require eligibility to satisfy applicable U.S. Government security, citizenship, or other authorization requirements.
Nice to have
- Experience with solid rocket motor manufacturing, propulsion systems, missile programs, ground and flight testing, external government test ranges, explosives safety approvals, facility siting, or quantitative consequence modeling.
- Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent.
- Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
