Senior Space Mission Operations Engineer (Spacecraft Operations): Developing and leading on-orbit missions for Varda spacecraft, including mission-unique payload operations and web tools to automate operational work, with an accent on real-time spacecraft operations and cross-discipline engineering. Focus on creating mission profiles, executing high-consequence operations, scaling flight cadence, and improving mission success.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $140,333–$179,314 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Develop, coordinate, execute, and lead on-orbit missions.
  • Own the operations development cycle for mission-unique payloads, from mission profiles through execution.
  • Work across engineering and operational teams to improve mission operations and ensure mission success.
  • Build web tools that automate operations and reduce operational burden.
  • Scale operational capabilities to support an increasing flight cadence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably aerospace, electrical, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience in real-time operations for complex, high-consequence systems.
  • 3+ years of experience developing software tools with Python, JavaScript, and/or HTML.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft avionics, GNC, software, and thermal design practices.
  • 5+ years of spacecraft systems experience and prior spacecraft operations experience preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. person authorized to work in the United States due to ITAR and export-control requirements.

Nice to have

  • Previous operator experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience with Git and Atlassian products.
  • Familiarity with ground station networks.
