TL;DR
Space Mission Operations Engineer II (Spacecraft Operations/Aerospace): Developing and leading on-orbit missions for Varda spacecraft, including mission-unique payload operations and web tools, with an accent on real-time spacecraft operations, cross-discipline engineering, and operational scalability. Focus on coordinating mission execution, automating operational workflows, and supporting increasing flight cadence in a high-consequence space environment.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person under applicable export-control requirements.

Salary: $119,543–$152,749 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Develop, coordinate, execute, and lead on-orbit missions.
  • Own the operations development cycle for mission-unique payloads, from mission profiles through execution.
  • Collaborate across engineering and company teams to improve mission operations and ensure mission success.
  • Build web tools to automate operations and reduce operational burden.
  • Scale operational capabilities to support increasing flight cadence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably aerospace, electrical, or computer science.
  • At least 2 years of experience in real-time operations for a complex, high-consequence operation.
  • At least 1 year of experience developing software tools with Python, JavaScript, and/or HTML.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft avionics, guidance, navigation and control, software, and thermal design practices.
  • Ability to work on-site in El Segundo, California, with U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • 3+ years of experience with spacecraft systems.
  • Previous spacecraft operator experience in a leadership role.
  • Previous in-orbit spacecraft operations experience.
  • Experience with Git, Atlassian products, and ground station networks.
