Staff Product Analyst (Workday Payroll, Absence & Time Tracking)

Location: Bellevue, Washington; Chicago, Illinois; San Francisco, California; or Washington, DC. Must work on U.S. soil and qualify as a U.S. person.

Annual base salary: $148,000–$203,500 USD for candidates in California excluding the San Francisco Bay Area, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington; a separate range of $132,000–$181,500 USD is also listed.

What you will do

• Define the product vision and multi-year roadmap for Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking.
• Translate business needs from People, Payroll, Finance, IT, and Operations stakeholders into functional requirements and configuration designs.
• Design and configure business processes, calculations, eligibility rules, pay components, and time-tracking functionality.
• Manage the full lifecycle from discovery and requirements gathering through testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Use Workday reporting and analytics to identify trends, improve accuracy, and reduce manual intervention.
• Coordinate third-party vendors, feature adoption, documentation, training, compliance, and security.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience configuring Workday Payroll, Absence, and/or Time Tracking, including business processes, calculated fields, and eligibility rules.
• Deep knowledge of Workday Payroll, pay components, taxes, absence, time tracking, and global HR processes.
• Experience leading tenant configuration, UAT, and regression testing.
• Advanced skills in custom reports, dashboards, and Workday hubs.
• Strong stakeholder communication, complex functional problem-solving, and collaboration across global time zones.
• Experience working in an Agile environment with backlogs and iterative delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience with Workday integrations, especially Global Payroll Connect.
• Workday Extend experience.
• Workday certification in Payroll, Absence, or Time Tracking.
