Senior Director, Marketing Content & Editorial (Cybersecurity)

Location: Herndon, Virginia, USA; hybrid with on-site work 2–3 days per week; candidates should live within approximately 50 miles of the office.

Salary: $218,400–$272,600 USD base salary per year, plus bonus plans and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and lead enterprise content strategy, editorial planning, content governance, and market-facing content calendars.
• Create and oversee articles, research, whitepapers, case studies, customer stories, product content, videos, multimedia, presentations, and campaign assets.
• Lead organic social and brand engagement programs, including employee and subject matter expert advocacy.
• Set strategy and standards for digital and web content, optimizing experiences through audience behavior, search insights, and engagement data.
• Build customer evidence, mission use cases, and content for campaigns, buyer journeys, launches, events, and regional markets.
• Establish performance measurement, manage agencies and vendors, and build a high-performing content and brand engagement team.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in content strategy, editorial leadership, digital content, or brand engagement.
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Expertise in enterprise content strategy, editorial leadership, digital engagement, content distribution, and organic social growth.
• Ability to translate complex cybersecurity and defense technology topics into clear narratives for technical, mission, business, and executive audiences.
• Experience leading teams, agencies, writers, and multimedia resources, with strong analytical and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in or near Herndon, Virginia, and travel for collaboration, events, and customer storytelling.

• Experience in cybersecurity, defense technology, SaaS, or other mission-focused industries.
• Advanced degree in a related field.
