Outreach and Engagement Officer (Open Science/AI)

Location: Hinxton, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom; flexible working arrangements including hybrid working patterns.

Salary: £3,452.00 per month after tax, excluding pension and insurance contributions.

What you will do

• Deliver the Europe PMC Community Engagement Strategy and coordinate day-to-day engagement activities.
• Build collaborative relationships with researchers, developers, text and data miners, publishers, institutions, funders, and open science organisations.
• Create and manage communication campaigns, social media content, blog and news content, videos, presentations, webinars, and training resources.
• Plan and deliver training sessions, webinars, events, conference activities, talks, and posters.
• Tailor messages and engagement channels for early-career and established researchers, software developers, open science advocates, and funders.
• Monitor engagement KPIs, evaluate campaign performance, gather feedback, and contribute to Europe PMC development planning and website content.

Requirements

• Degree or equivalent experience in communications, information science, life sciences, or a related field.
• Professional experience in communications, engagement, or marketing within research, scientific publishing, open science, or an academic environment.
• Experience developing engagement strategies, delivering communication campaigns, and measuring their success.
• Experience managing organisational social media channels and increasing reach through audience insight and platform analytics.
• Hands-on experience in life sciences research or scientific publishing, plus experience with social media tools, online training platforms, or webinar software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to address varied audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience writing scientific or technical content.
• Awareness of open science and how AI is changing research and scholarly communication.
• Familiarity with AI tools for communications, data analysis, or image and video editing software.
