Senior Engineer - IT (Java/React)

Location: Chennai, India. Work shift requires overlap with US East Coast time zones as needed.

What you will do

• Design and deliver end-to-end full-stack enterprise solutions across frontend and backend systems.
• Build scalable, secure RESTful APIs, microservices, backend services, and high-performance React/Next.js applications.
• Develop server-side rendered and SEO-friendly web applications with responsive and accessible user experiences.
• Manage deployments across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production environments and provide rotational or on-demand production support.
• Review pull requests, mentor engineers, and promote coding standards, architectural guidelines, and engineering best practices.
• Improve test coverage, automation, observability, security, scalability, and high availability, including responsible use of AI-assisted development tools.

Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience developing scalable enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with Java, preferably Spring Boot, React, Next.js, RESTful APIs, microservices, SSR, and SSG.
• Experience with authentication and authorization using OAuth, JWT, or SSO; design patterns including MVC, MVVM, layered, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, DevOps practices, observability tools, Git, and SQL/NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience with web performance optimization, accessibility, responsive design, automated testing, and quality gates.
• Ability to work from Chennai and overlap with US East Coast teams as required.

Nice to have

• Experience with the US insurance domain, including group benefits, billing, claims, or enrollment.
• Familiarity with MetLife, Sun Life, or similar insurer platforms and related regulatory, compliance, and customer experience requirements.
