TL;DR
Engineering Intern (Nuclear): Supporting planning, design, inspections, testing, reporting, and safety initiatives at the Cook Nuclear Power Plant with an accent on power-system operations and engineering project execution. Focus on participating in field visits, conducting constructability assessments, analyzing databases and cost estimates, and developing data-driven operational improvements.
Location: Onsite in Bridgman, Michigan, United States. Summer relocation may be required for the internship.
Salary: $25.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on education hours. A $1,500/month housing stipend is available for interns moving more than 45 miles from their home address.

What you will do
- Collaborate with project teams and experienced engineers on planning, design, and execution from design through construction.
- Participate in design reviews, training sessions, knowledge-building projects, and constructability assessments.
- Visit operational facilities and assist with inspections and testing to understand power-system operations.
- Develop and analyze databases, reports, cost estimates, and dashboards.
- Support documentation and initiatives that improve operational performance and safety.
- Apply safety guidelines and standards in office and field environments while expanding engineering skills.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nuclear, electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering in an ABET-accredited program.
- At least one year of undergraduate study completed; graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must work onsite in Bridgman, Michigan, and be willing and able to relocate for the summer if necessary.
- This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, OPT, or CPT.
- Preferred qualifications include a minimum 3.0 GPA, strong communication and time-management skills, and interest in electric utilities, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
