System Protection Engineering Intern (Electrical Engineering)

Location: Denver, Colorado; hybrid work with required in-person commuting to the designated location

Salary: $21.20–$23.10 per hour

What you will do

• Support distribution and transmission relay protection activities.
• Perform lightning analysis for transmission operation investigations.
• Update short-circuit models, including relay, transmission line, and transformer replacements.
• Assist with special assignments such as SQL queries and feeder settings.
• Support laboratory testing of relay settings and investigations of system disturbances.
• Contribute to power-system database maintenance, special studies, and PRC NERC compliance tasks.

Requirements

• Current sophomore-level student or higher as of Fall 2027.
• Enrollment in an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Commitment to the internship for at least one calendar year.
• Ability to work full-time during the summer, up to 40 hours per week, and part-time during the school year, up to 20 hours per week, with in-person commuting to Denver.
