Mechanical Engineering Placement (12 months) (Aerospace)

Location: Stevenage, United Kingdom; hybrid working options may be available depending on the role.

What you will do

• Support the mechanical analysis function throughout a 12-month placement.
• Perform mechanical analysis during the design and testing phases of space hardware projects.
• Develop analysis tools to improve engineering processes.
• Apply structural analysis skills to spacecraft hardware from conceptual design through qualification testing and delivery.

Requirements

• Undergraduate status must be maintained for the full duration of the placement.
• Study toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related subject.
• Predicted degree result of 2:1 or above.
• Understanding of fundamental structural analysis principles and appreciation of mechanical simulation software.
• Experience using Excel for engineering calculations and presenting results; MATLAB is advantageous.
• Good written and verbal communication skills; programming skills are advantageous.
