Test Rig Fluid Mechanical Design Placement (12.5 months) (Aerospace)

Location: Filton, Bristol, United Kingdom. The role involves hands-on work in a non-office-based test centre with fluid mechanical test rigs and hazardous equipment.

Salary: £24,246 per year.

What you will do

• Develop new test rigs end to end, from requirements capture and detailed design through manufacturing, integration, and commissioning.
• Modify existing test rigs to support new testing requirements.
• Troubleshoot test rig issues and support test-centre operations.
• Use CATIA and other tools to create 3D digital mock-ups, bills of materials, and build procedures.
• Work with prototyping areas, avionic systems, and fluid mechanical test rigs.

Requirements

• Remain an undergraduate for the full 12.5-month placement and provide the expected graduation date.
• Study toward a degree in fluid mechanics or mechanical engineering.
• Demonstrate teamwork, strong communication, adaptability, and an enthusiastic approach to hands-on engineering.
• Follow safety protocols when working with Jet Fuel, Hydraulic Fluid, hot and cold surfaces, noise, and high voltages.
• Pass a BPSS check; UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control approval may also be required depending on the role.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3D drawing tools.
• Coursework or knowledge in fluid mechanics, mathematics, and physics.
