Optical Associate, Non-Certified – Sam’s Club

Salary: $18.00–$26.00 per hour, plus possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour

What you will do

• Stock, organize, price, secure, and maintain merchandise and displays in the Optical area.
• Assist members with eyewear and contact lens purchases, prescription verification, measurements, frame adjustments, repairs, and final inspections.
• Process eyewear, contact lens, hearing aid, doctor service, payment, refund, and insurance transactions through applicable systems.
• Educate members on eyewear care and contact lens hygiene, and support contact lens insertions and removals.
• Schedule member visits, support optometrist appointments and pre-testing under appropriate guidance, and communicate with laboratories and optometrists.
• Maintain optical equipment, inventory, records, claims, paperwork, and HIPAA-compliant documentation.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent upon entry or within 12 months of hire.
• Must meet applicable US state requirements for optical associates, apprentices, registration, certification, and licensure.
• Must obtain American Board of Opticianry certification within 15 months of hire or job entry.
• Must be willing and able to register and maintain an NPI number where required by state law.
• In licensed or registered states, must complete applicable apprenticeship and optician licensure requirements within the specified deadlines.
• Intermediate knowledge of eye anatomy and diagnostic testing is developed through required training.
