Head of IT (AI)

Location: On-site five days a week in Redwood City, California, United States. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States; new work visa sponsorship is not provided.

Salary: $180,000–$350,000 annual salary, plus stock and/or stock option awards and benefits.

What you will do

• Build, scale, secure, and operate internal technology infrastructure from the ground up.
• Administer the SaaS stack, manage vendors and licensing, and lead IT service delivery across two offices.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure and AI token costs across OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, AWS, GCP, and neocloud providers.
• Lead IAM, SSO, RBAC, zero-trust access, office networking, domains, DNS, SSL, and DNSSEC.
• Manage device provisioning, endpoint security, asset tracking, onboarding, and offboarding.
• Establish security, compliance, incident management, disaster recovery, and backup procedures while leading contractors and IT team members.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of professional IT experience scaling technology infrastructure.
• Previous Head or Director of IT experience in a fast-paced, high-growth technology startup.
• Deep expertise in endpoint protection, threat monitoring, zero-trust principles, and regulated compliance frameworks including SOC 1, SOC 2, FedRAMP, GDPR, and HIPAA.
• Experience with AI infrastructure, LLM API access, automation, AIOps, and FinOps for cloud and AI workloads.
• Strong domain management and DNS experience, plus hands-on knowledge of IAM platforms such as Okta, JumpCloud, or Entra ID.
• Ability to operate at executive level while remaining hands-on with technical implementation.
