Automation Technician

Location: Rensselaer, New York, United States; onsite role. Shift: 3rd shift, Sunday–Thursday, 12:00 AM–8:30 AM. Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is required; remote support may be provided during assigned coverage periods.

What you will do

• Provide automation technical support for GMP bulk biologics, fill/finish, and clean utilities manufacturing systems.
• Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, computerized systems, electrical control circuits, and industrial equipment.
• Support routine operations, maintenance activities, equipment setups, and production changeovers.
• Implement corrective and preventive maintenance, component replacements, and system corrections.
• Coordinate automation issue resolution with manufacturing and facilities groups.
• Work safely on production floors using full gowning and specialized PPE, including arc-flash protection where required.

Requirements

• Experience troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and computerized systems, preferably in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of ladder logic, PID control, electrical control systems, instrumentation, and DC and 120/240/480 VAC circuits.
• Ability to diagnose electrical control circuits using a digital multimeter and electrical schematics.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Basic understanding of data integrity regulations and proficiency with computer-based systems and digital tools.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, troubleshoot independently, and participate in the rotating on-call schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with automation platforms, control systems, HMIs, or PLCs.
• Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems, data historians, or related computer systems.
• Prior experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
